Brad Bennetts, who has joined the operator as new UK Head of Sales & Business Development, said: “APT has drawn on 􏰂􏰁 years of destination expertise in Canada and North America to create these stunning new itineraries for 􏰀􏰁􏰀􏰂. Canada, Alaska and Western USA are in steep demand for longer haul travel next year and touring is
a fantastic way for travel agents to supply the finest experiences, already neatly packaged up, to their clients. We’ve done the hard work in bringing together all the show stopping elements, so they don’t have to.”
BRITISH AIRWAYS TAKES OFF TO PORTLAND, OREGON
British Airways’ inaugural flight from London Heathrow to Portland, Oregon commenced last month.
The brand new direct route will operate five times a week on a Boeing 􏰅􏰆􏰅-􏰆 Dreamliner.
On board customers can enjoy a local taste from one of the airline’s newest partners – Aviation American Gin, which was founded in Portland in 􏰀􏰁􏰁􏰇.
Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Director of Networks and Alliances said: “This summer British Airways will be flying to 􏰀􏰇 US cities from London and we’re very excited to be adding Portland to our list of transatlantic destinations.
“Not only are we the only airline to offer direct flights from Portland to London, but this new route also opens a wide variety of connections for our customers. Through Alaska Airlines, our oneworld partner, British Airways will offer codeshare connections to several destinations operated by Alaska Airlines from Portland.”
British Airways customers can book onto Alaska-operated flights to 􏰃􏰈 onward destinations from Portland.
  UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD
CONVERTS TO ELECTRIC TRAMS
Universal Studios Hollywood has installed the first four electric trams in its fleet of 21 Studio Tour trams.
The behind-the-scenes Studio Tour takes guests through authentic movie and television production studios, featuring iconic sets from blockbuster movies such as “Back to
the Future” as well as rides such as “Fast & Furious- Supercharged” and “King Kong 􏰂􏰇􏰁 􏰂-D.”
Full conversion of the 􏰀􏰃 trams from diesel-hydraulic engines to electric will help reduce carbon emissions as well as improve the guest experience by reducing noise associated with the diesel-hydraulic engine. Trams will routinely charge during the normal operation at the start and end of the attraction route.
