talents coming through excites me as well.
My favourite moments early on were watching my brother in the FA Youth Cups and trying
to figure out which players would be the next big thing. It’s always interesting to see where people end up, and even more so when the players that you don’t expect to do well at a young age go on to be successful.”
And the hardest part?
“Patience is the hardest part, and dedication to putting in the hard work. I’m quite a chilled and level-headed person but I work tirelessly every day to find solutions and do research. Even when you feel everything is against you, you have to keep going, especially in football. The cliché quote ‘Rome was not built in a day’ is true not only for people in my profession but players too. You can’t expect things to come to you in such a short amount of time. Every day is a day to learn and improve yourself.
I’m big on self-development and follow that philosophy. I’ve had some bad experiences in the past that have shaped who I am today. Being positive every day is something that I try to achieve.”
What kind of thing does a football agent do on a day-to-day basis?
“There is no set schedule really. It mostly consists of talking to clubs about players and positions for the upcoming window. Making clubs aware of players, finding information, finding new talent, researching new targets, providing support, and constantly learning. I watch a lot of football matches.”
What were your thoughts on Patrick’s September Player of the Month nomination?
“I felt he thoroughly deserved to be recognised. Performing on a consistent basis is extremely hard and in September that’s what he did. I’m not a huge believer in stats, even though I know that they take the headlines. For Patrick to be nominated in his first month back in the Championship with Sunderland was a great start, and I fully believe he can kick on even more this season.”
Do you represent any other players or just Patrick?
“I advise two other boys: one coming through at Bromley and one at Crawley Town. I
also work with a few boys who have been released from clubs recently. They have been overlooked and I am trying to get them back in the system and back enjoying football. At some point I will be hoping to represent some other players.”
