Last month, we hosted 36 agents on board Scenic Eclipse, The World’s First Discovery YachtsTM, from Lisbon to Fowey and onto Amsterdam and it got me thinking about my trip on board back in 2019 when I sailed the Caribbean hosting Travel Counsellors.
The 166m-long mega yacht sets the benchmark in ultra- luxury cruising. On-board facilities for a maximum of 228 guests include a dedicated spa, 10 world-class dining experiences and all-verandah, ultra-luxury suites. Scenic Eclipse offers an unrivalled 􏰀-star cruising experience and has been designed to provide access to the most remote and remarkable landing sites in the world. With its on-board fleet of Zodiacs, two luxury helicopters and a six-person submarine, guests can explore the world from the sea,
sky and land.
Scenic Eclipse also sailed into the U.K. for the first time ever last month, calling into Fowey in Cornwall and the Isle of Wight. Scenic Eclipse’s U.K. visit comes at an exciting time. Its near-identical sister ship, Scenic Eclipse II, is currently under construction in Croatia and will reach a milestone later this month when it is floated out into the water.
Scenic Eclipse II is on course for completion by April next year and will join Scenic Eclipse sailing itineraries taking in the Mediterranean, Scotland, the Americas, the Caribbean and both polar regions. In 2024, Scenic Eclipse II will also visit Australia, Polynesia and Indonesia.
Scenic Eclipse will be sailing to Scotland for the first time next year. The 10-day Scottish Isles: Historic Trails & Wilderness, sails from Leith to Dublin, via Aberdeen, Stromness, St Kilda, Portree and Fort William, on
12 September 2023 and 6 June 2024.

SHEARINGS OPENS BOOKINGS FOR 2023 UK BREAKS
Air disruption fuels demand for UK coach holidays “Agents urged to encourage early booking to secure first choice dates and tour.”
Shearings has opened bookings for its 2023 UK breaks. The operator launched a bumper dedicated UK brochure early this year featuring over 200 tours and the demand for staycations is showing no sign of slowing down.
Taking in Britain’s most spectacular destinations, each holiday includes comfortable coach travel, hand-picked accommodation with breakfast and evening meals and exciting excursions.
􏰁􏰂􏰁􏰃 UK coach holidays are priced from £􏰁􏰁􏰄pp for a five- day tour. A selection of tours have new optional excursions for next year, including Flamborough Head, Bridlington and Beverley on the Scarborough, Whitby and York holiday and Grange-over-Sands on the Windermere and the Lake District break.
Leger Shearings Group’s head of retail sales, Ashley Dellow said: “The recent air disruption has further fuelled the demand for UK coach holidays and whilst we kept adding capacity for this summer, places are filling fast.
“Agents should encourage their customers to start planning their future UK breaks now as demand will again be high in 2023. Making a booking early, with a low deposit, secures the first choice of date and tour and allows more time to save for the holiday.
“The 2023 UK collection includes firm-favourite destinations and something to suit all interests and budgets. There’s a fantastic Scarborough Fair Collection tour which features a magnificent collection of vintage cars, steam engines, fairground rides and more.
“The Eastbourne, Castles and Gardens tour includes visits to some of the finest historic properties in Kent including Hever Castle and Leeds Castle, both of which are popular. Holidays with an excursion to Loch Lomond are also top sellers.“
