 6. News
Round two of the UK-Mexico trade negotiations took place from 31st October to 11th November 2022. During the virtual meetings a total of 29 policy areas were discussed.
Both countries are looking to build upon and modernising the FTA which is currently in place and continued from our time in the EU. On top of this, both countries have agreed that it is a good opportunity to add value and complement the UK’s accession to the CPTPP.

Things you need to know...
On the 7th December 2022, the UK announced that it had signed an economic Memorandum of Understanding with a third US state, South Carolina. The MOU with South Carolina follows previous similar agreements being signed with North Carolina and Indiana in July and May 2022 respectively.
The agreement was signed in person by the Trade Minister Greg Hands. Following the signing of the MOU in Columbia, South Carolina the Trade Minister was also visiting California and Utah during his visit. The aim of this trip is to try and continue to strengthen the UK trade ties with individual US states.
Though there is no confirmation, we expect to see more MOUs signed and announced with other American states throughout this year.
It continues to be a busy time for DIT with trade negotiations ongoing with multiple countries and multi-national groups.
Here is a quick tour of the globe, and an update on the different trade negotiations:
