Tavassoli et al (2014) suggested that 90% of autistic children have sensory differences and Gentil-Gutierrez et al (2021) emphasise the need for practitioners to %u2018understand and adapt%u2019 to the sensory needs of individual autistic children in education environments. This section on meeting individual sensory needs is added here but is relevant to any child or young person who has sensory differences. Likewise, children and young people can be %u2018nonspeakers%u2019 at any age or if identified as GLP, at any GLP Stage.
