I don’t miss out on either of them. For my cricket I have travelled all over obviously playing with York- shire visiting the different counties in the country. I also play Women’s Club Cricket for Sessay which has been one of the most rewarding teams I have played for, we have won National competitions, the league and whilst doing so we have travelled to lots of different brilliant cricket grounds including getting to play at the Kia Oval down in London where I took three wickets which is a feeling and a memory that I will never ever forget.
You’re playing for the SAFC U23s right now, what’s the next step for you and your career? At the moment playing for U23s is brilliant and the team we have is fantastic, some of the girls in the squad are very talented and it is very exciting to see what we can achieve together as a team. The next step in my career would be to make a break through into the women’s first team which will be tough and take a lot of hard work and determi- nation to get there but hopefully one day that is where I will end up.
Some of your fondest memories being a SAFC fan?
Being a Sunderland fan there are many ups and downs but that’s why being a Sunderland fan is brilliant, it’s exciting because you just never know with Sunderland. One of the best memories has got to be the game vs Manchester City on New Year’s day 2012, Ji Dong-Won’s injury time winner which I can still remember like it was yesterday. Then I have to say beating Wycombe in the play- off final at Wembley to get us back into the Cham- pionship this year, what a brilliant day that was. Seeing your club win a play-off final at the home of football is a day you will never forget. Another one of the best moments was at our home game and the lights went out at the stadium so all the crowd starting singing ‘get the rave on’ and Jordan Pickford joined in and he was loving it!
Some of your childhood heroes?
There are a few childhood heroes that I have such as the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, Joe Root, Sarah Taylor but the main one has always been Beth Mead. Beth is always
someone I have looked up to my whole life and been inspired by everything she has done and continues to do in her footballing career. It is bril- liant to see where she is now and all the success she is having from when I first started following her to now. It is even better to see as she is from the same area as me so seeing someone be so successful from round here makes you realise that it could be you one day if you put the hard work and effort into it. Beth has always been bril- liant with me as well as her family always having time to speak to me and she has given me some really good advice, she even came to watch
me play in one of my football games which is a memory I will never forget and I will always be grateful for.
Your dad told us you were on the front cover of ALS last year! What was that like?
It was brilliant, obviously me and my family are die-hard Sunderland fans so we always tend to buy the different programmes available and fol- low the different social media accounts. We have always read and bought different bits and bobs from A Love Supreme and then to see me and my dad on the front cover was just ridiculous,
out of all the photos that are out there they used the one of me and my dad which was pretty cool I must admit.
