MOVING Checklist
Whether moving across the street or across
the country, the Moving Checklist is a handy
reminder of things to do and people to inform PETS
regarding your new location. ☐ Ask about regulations for licenses,
vaccinations, tags, etc.
ADDRESS CHANGE
☐ Give forwarding address to post office 2 to 3 SCHOOLS
weeks before moving ☐ Get school transcripts (some districts require
☐ Change charge accounts, credit cards that they be sent directly from the prior school)
☐ Subscriptions: Notice requires 6 to 8 weeks
☐ Friends and relatives UTILITY COMPANIES
BANK ☐ Notify gas, electric, water, telephone, fuel,
and garbage companies
☐ Transfer funds, arrange check-cashing ☐ Get refunds on any deposits made
in new city ☐ Return cable boxes
☐ Arrange credit references
DON’T FORGET TO:
INSURANCE
☐ Carry enough cash to cover cost of moving
☐ Notify company of new location for services and expenses until you make banking
coverages: life, health, fire and auto connections in new city
☐ Make sure homeowner’s coverage for your ☐ Carry jewelry and documents yourself, or use
