Narrative: Open My Mouth in a Parable
He answered and said unto them,
“Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, of God: But unto
them that are without, all these things are done in parables: To them it is not given. For whosoever
hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: But whosoever hath not, from him shall
be taken away even that he hath. Therefore speak I to them in parables: Because they seeing see not;
and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias,
which saith,
“By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not
perceive: For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they
have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should
understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them and their sins should be
forgiven them.”
“But blessed are your eyes, for they see: And your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto
you, that
“Many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have
not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.”
And he said unto them,
“Know ye not this parable? And how then will ye know all parables?”
“Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of
God. The sower soweth the word. Those by the way side are they that hear; where the word is sown;
but when they have heard, the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the devil,
Satan the wicked one, immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts out of their
hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. This is he which received seed by the way side. And
these are they likewise that received the seed which are sown into stony ground; the same are they,
which, when they have heard, the word, and immediately with joy; receiveth the word. Yet these have
no root in themselves and so endure but for a time: Which for a while believe, and in time of temptation
fall away. For afterward, when tribulation or afflicttion or persecution ariseth because of the word’s
