Narrative: The Day of Atonement

And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should
know it. And while they abode in Galilee, he taught his disciples, and they were all amazed at the
mighty power of God. But while they wondered everyone at all things which Jesus did, Jeus said unto
his disciples,
“Let these sayings sink down into your ears: For the Son of man shall be betrayed into the
hands of men: And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again.”
And they were exceeding sorry. But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them,
that they perceived it not: And they feared to ask him of that saying.
Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest. And when they
were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said,
“Doth not your master pay tribute?”
He saith,
“Yes.”
And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying,
“What thinkest thou, Simon? Of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? Of their
own children, or of strangers?”
Peter saith unto him,
“Of strangers.”
Jesus saith unto him,
