Narrative: We Shall Live in His Sight
- A Ransom for Many -
Matt 19:16-20:28 • Mark 10:17-45 • Luke 18:18-34
And when he was gone forth into the way, behold, there came one running, a certain ruler and
kneeled to him, and asked him, saying,
“Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may inherit eternal life?”
And Jesus said unto him,
“Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God. But if thou wilt enter into
life, keep the commandments.”
He saith unto him,
“Which?”
Jesus said,
“Thou knowest the commandments, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery,
Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honor thy father and thy mother:
And, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”
The young man answered and said unto him,
“Master, all these have I kept from my youth up: What lack I yet?”
Now when Jesus heard these things, beholding him loved him, and said unto him,
“Yet one thing thou lackest:”
Jesus said unto him,
“If thou wilt be perfect, go thy way, and sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and
thou shalt have treasure in heaven: And come, take up the cross, and follow me.”
