Fraud management is essential to ensure only genuine
claims are settled. Documentary proofs of accident
details-photographs, witness statements, identities of
claimants and witnesses, examination of the authorities
concerned with the case e.g. doctor treating the accident
victim to depose on the nature or extent of injury, RTA
authority to depose on the vehicle and driver documents,
concerned police official to identify claimants are some
of the measures that can be adopted.
It is thus essential for an investigator to be appointed to
collect facts, probe the documents and detail in the
Medico Legal case (MLC) issued by the hospital where
the victim is first admitted/treated. If necessary obtain
photographs of victim certified by the treating doctor.
Panchnama and seizure report detailing accident site
and accident cause and the documents taken in custody
by the police like policy copy, DL, RC etc. Identity of
witnesses to accident, PM/Inquest report, date time of
accident, age of victim and cause of death.
The Motor Vehicle Inspectors report on the damages to
the vehicle, and owner and driver, cause of accident
