On his return after a couple of days, I requested him to disclose the secret
of managing the Singapore airport staff. He said "I told the officer that
one bag contains my business contracts and if I lose them I suffer in my
business. The other one carries jewelry of my wife. If I lose it, I lose my
wife. If you combine both the briefcases, the total size and weight will
not violate your rules. So, you should consider my request favorably." He
continued," I had more than one justification for my request. The officer
smiled back and allowed me to carry both of them."

           Insight from the episode
There was a big learning for me from this small incident. If we have a
point, we must put forth our request to the concerned authority. We
should not reject our own application ourselves by not putting up our
application to the concerned presuming that it will not be accepted or
           granted.
