album. Books could be distributed in electronic form as e-books and other formats.

Although in normal academic parlance that a monograph is known to be a professional academic
work, rather than a reference work on a single scholarly subject, in library and information science
monograph describes more broadly any non-serial publication complete in 1 volume (publication )
or a finite number of volumes (a novel like Prousts seven-volume In Search of Lost Time), in
contrast to sequential books like a magazine, journal, or newspaper. An avid reader or collector of
books is a bibliophile or colloquially,"bookworm". A store where books are bought and sold is a
bookshop or bookstore. Books are also sold elsewhere. Books can also be borrowed from libraries.
Google has estimated that as of 2010, roughly 130,000,000 distinct titles were released. In some
wealthier nations, the selling of published books has diminished due to the increased usage of e-
books.

In the 2000s, as a result of growth in availability of affordable handheld computing devices, the
opportunity to share texts through digital means became an attractive alternative for media
publishers. Thus, the"e-book" was made. The expression e-book is a contraction of"digital book"; it
refers to a book-length publication in electronic form. An e-book is usually made available through
the world wide web, but also on CD-ROM and other forms. E-Books may be read either via a
computing device with an LED display like a traditional computer, a smartphone or a tablet pc; or
by way of a portable e-ink screen device known as an e-book reader, such as the Sony Reader,
Barnes & Noble Nook, Kobo eReader, or even the Amazon Kindle. E-book readers try to mimic the
experience of reading a print book by employing this technology, since the displays onto e-book
readers are much less reflective.
