            Advantages of Reading

As an intellectual thing, a publication is prototypically a composition of these great length that it
takes a substantial investment of time to write and a still considerable, though not so
comprehensive, investment of time to read. This feeling of publication has a restricted and an
unrestricted sense. In the limited sense, a publication is a self explanatory section or portion of a
longer composition, a use that reflects the fact that, in antiquity, long functions needed to be written
on several scrolls, and every scroll needed to be identified by the book it included. So, for instance,
each part of Aristotles Physics is called a book. From the unrestricted sense, a publication is the
compositional whole of which these sections, whether known as chapters or books or components,
            are components.

The academic material in a physical book does not need to be a composition, nor be called a
novel. Novels can consist only of drawings, engravings, or photos, or such things as crossword
puzzles or cut-out dolls. In a physical book, the pages can be left blank or may contain an abstract
group of lines as support for continuing entries, e.g., an account book, an appointment book, an
autograph book, a laptop, a journal, or a sketchbook. Some physical publications are made with
pages thick and sturdy enough to encourage other physical objects, like a scrapbook or
photograph album. Books may be distributed in digital form as e-books along with other formats.

Although in ordinary academic parlance that a monograph is known to be a specialist academic
work, rather than a reference work on a single scholarly subject, in library and information science
monograph describes more broadly any non-serial book complete in one volume (book) or a finite
number of volumes (even a publication like Prousts seven-volume In Search of Lost Time), in
contrast to serial publications like a magazine, journal, or newspaper. A passionate reader or
reader of books is a bibliophile or colloquially,"bookworm". Novels can also be sold elsewhere.
Google has estimated that as of 2010, approximately 130,000,000 distinct titles had been released.
In some wealthier countries, the sale of published books has decreased due to the increased
            usage of e-books.

In the 2000s, due to the rise in availability of cheap handheld computing devices, the opportunity to
share texts via electronic means became an attractive option for media publishers. The expression
e-book is a contraction of"electronic book"; it refers to some book-length publication in electronic
form. An e-book is usually made accessible through the internet, but also on CD-ROM and other
forms. E-Books might be read either using a computing device with an LED display such as a
conventional computer, a smartphone or a tablet computer; or by way of a mobile e-ink screen
device called an e-book reader, like the Sony Reader, Barnes & Noble Nook, Kobo eReader, or
even the Amazon Kindle. E-book readers try to mimic the experience of reading a print publication
by using this technology, since the screens on e-book readers are much less reflective.
