concentrated over a few days. Incredibly, missing 10 of the best trading days in the past 20
years would half your annualized return from 7% to 3.5%

#7 In stock market investing, BEHAVIOR matters more than SKILL. Let that sink in. Instead
of watching the financial news for hours searching for the best investment, decide on a good
one and watch your behavior instead. An example of a good investment is a low cost Total
Market Index ETF with an affordable starter investment, allowing you to add small investments
periodically, commission free. An example of good behavior is giving the market breathing
room to recover from the inevitable 10% corrections and not trying to time the market. Getting in
and out of the market is a fool's game. Studies have shown a wide gap between investment
returns and investor returns. This is due to irrational behavior where investors invest with their
emotions. Detach from the emotions of fear and greed, and you will be wealthy. It's inevitable.

#8 Know your Bail out Number. This advice may contradict #7, so let me explain. Have an
exit plan. The stock market trends up around 70% of the time. However, it never goes straight
up. There will be 10% corrections along the way, and it is important to stay invested when
these corrections occur. There are times when the market will swoon by 50% or more as in
2000, 2008 and 2020. You need to have a simple rule in place that will get you out before
momentum makes it worse. Give the market space to breathe. Be slow to pull the trigger to
bail out. But never let a 10% loss become a 50% disaster. A 50% loss requires a 100% gain to
break even. That is hard to achieve, especially if you are close to retirement and don't have the
               time to recover.

“The United States has developed a new weapon that destroys people but it
leaves buildings standing. It's called the stock market." - Jay Leno

The stock market can be confounding, making us feel like dummies. Out of frustration and a
