                   OCTOBER 9
                     14  O Jerusalem, wash your heart from    “The whole land shall be desolate;
                           wickedness, Yet I will not make a full end.
                        That you may be saved. 28 For this shall the earth mourn,
                        How long shall your evil thoughts And the heavens above be black,
                           lodge within you? Because I have spoken.
                     15 For a voice declares from Dan I have purposed and will not relent,
                        And proclaims affliction from Mount Nor will I turn back from it.
                           Ephraim: 29 The whole city shall flee from the noise
                     16 “Make mention to the nations, of the horsemen and bowmen.
                        Yes, proclaim against Jerusalem, They shall go into thickets and climb
                        That watchers come from a far country up on the rocks.
                        And raise their voice against the cities Every city shall be forsaken,
                           of Judah. And not a man shall dwell in it.
                     17 Like keepers of a field they are against
                                                           30 “And when you are plundered,
                           her all around,
                        Because she has been rebellious What will you do?
                           against Me,” says the LORD. Though you clothe yourself with
                     18 “Your ways and your doings crimson,
                        Have procured these things for you. Though you adorn yourself with
                        This is your wickedness, ornaments of gold,
                        Because it is bitter, Though you enlarge your eyes with
                        Because it reaches to your heart.” paint,
                                                               In vain you will make yourself fair;
                     19
                        O my soul, my soul!                    Your lovers will despise you;
                        I am pained in my very heart! They will seek your life.
                        My heart makes a noise in me;
                                                           31
                        I cannot hold my peace, “For I have heard a voice as of a woman
                        Because you have heard, O my soul, in labor,
                        The sound of the trumpet, The anguish as of her who brings forth
                        The alarm of war. her first child,
                     20 The voice of the daughter of Zion
                        Destruction upon destruction is cried,
                        For the whole land is plundered.         bewailing herself;
                        Suddenly my tents are plundered, She spreads her hands, saying,
                        And my curtains in a moment. ‘Woe is me now, for my soul is weary
                        How long will I see the standard,
                     21                                        Because of murderers!’
                        And hear the sound of the trumpet? Psalm 116:15–19
                       “For My people are foolish, 15 Precious in the sight of the LORD

                        They have not known Me. Is the death of His saints.
                        They are silly children,
                                                          16
                        And they have no understanding.        O LORD, truly I am Your servant;
                        They are wise to do evil, I am Your servant, the son of Your
                        But to do good they have no              maidservant;
                           knowledge.” You have loosed my bonds.
                                                          17 I will offer to You the sacrifice of
                     23
                        I beheld the earth, and indeed it was thanksgiving,
                           without form, and void; And will call upon the name of the
                        And the heavens, they had no light. LORD.
                     24
                        I beheld the mountains, and indeed
                           they trembled, 18 I will pay my vows to the LORD
                        And all the hills moved back and forth. Now in the presence of all His people,
                     25 19 In the courts of the LORD’s house,
                        I beheld, and indeed there was no man,
                        And all the birds of the heavens had fled. In the midst of you, O Jerusalem.
                     26
                        I beheld, and indeed the fruitful land Praise the LORD!
                           was a wilderness,
                        And all its cities were broken down Proverbs 27:2
                        At the presence of the LORD, 2 Let another man praise you, and not
                        By His fierce anger.
                                                                 your own mouth;
                     27
                      For thus says the LORD: A stranger, and not your own lips.
