About the Author

Viktor Suvorov is the pen name of Vladimir Rezun, 61, who was born in the USSR. Suvorov
is the author of eighteen books, including three works of fiction. His books have been pub-
lished in more than thirty languages. In Russia and Poland they have sold more than a mil-
lion copies. Suvorov was a Soviet Army officer who served in military intelligence (GRU). In
1978, when stationed in Geneva under cover as a Soviet diplomat, he defected with his wife
and two young children to the United Kingdom, where he worked as an intelligence analyst
and lecturer. He lives in hiding in England because he was sentenced to death by a Soviet
military court, and today’s Russia has refused to pardon him.
