                   Brass instruments

Brass instruments: are all wind musical instruments that are made of copper or from some
other metal. They are very oddly shaped and some of them look like a coiled snake.

                   The Trumpet

Look at that! Its tip looks like a small funnel. This is where the sound comes from after you
first blow inside the mouthpiece. See below and other musical instruments that belong to
the brass group. Activity 3 http://photodentro.edu.gr/v/item/ds/8521/6160

                   Activity 4

Hear the trumpet, horn, trombone and tuba play little snippets for you. Do you think their
sound is similar to the sound of woodwinds?

Discuss your opinion with your teacher and your classmates.

A few words about the family of percussion musical instruments. Musical
instruments whose sound is produced by percussion are called percussion instruments. To
hear the sound of the band's percussion instruments you have to clap your hands with
baguettes or even with each other. Like wind instruments, they are divided into groups
according to the material from which they are made. So we have the leather team, of
                   wooden and metal percussion.

Check out some of the percussion instruments in the band below. Hear the percussion
instruments play short snippets of music for you. Don't be surprised if you've heard some of
them before! As you would understand, some of them exist in your classroom as well.
