CRITICAL THINKING
The theories of media education as the development of critical
thinking (Critical Thinking Approach, Critical Autonomy
Approach, Critical Democratic Approach, etc.) are now popular
in many countries, so the there is considerable agreement with
respect to goals and purposes.
According to these theories, students need to develop the
capacity to purposefully navigate a world of diverse and
abundant information.
They should be taught to consciously
perceive, comprehend and analyze it
as well as be aware of the
consequences of its influence upon
the audience.
One-sided or distorted information (conveyed in particular by
television, which possesses a strong arsenal of propaganda) is
no doubt a matter for reflection.
