process and in the construction of the identity of schools. Making school newspapers a

civic instrument for the discussion of topics relevant to the school community and for

the promotion of relations between the school and the surrounding environment,
contributing this way to the fight against disinformation is one of the key objectives of

                  this contest.

Media Literacy and Journalism Association is an organization which provides

teachers and other audiences with methodologies, resources and tools that can be used
in media literacy activities with students, school and educational communities, or

others. They create a direct cooperation between journalists and schools, promoting the

development of a project sponsored by a journalist and organizing sessions of awareness

and sharing of knowledge and experience, workshops or lectures in schools.
The Directorate-General of Education created the network of Information and

Communication Clubs (IC Clubs), recognising that the dynamization, in schools, of School

TV clubs, School Radio, Podcast, Photography, Blog, Newsletter and Newspaper, among

others, assumes a relevant role in the development of different literacies, especially
                  Media and Information ones.

Another good practice is the Online Media Literacy and Education platform,

which is an aggregator of resources (e.g., video, audio, games, activity proposals),

available online and ready to use in pedagogical activities to be developed in formal,
non-formal or informal learning contexts. This platform is preferably aimed at pre-

school and primary and secondary school teachers. However, it can also be used by

other educators and learners, of various age and school levels, since the use of the

resources referenced in the platform Literacy and Education for the Media Online,
depends on the contexts and objectives of the activities to be developed.

In conclusion, these are some of the good practices that are being implemented

in Portugal and in the Portuguese schools in order to enable student with necessary skills

and knowledge to navigate the complex media environment efficiently.
