INTRODUCTION

This hypothetical case is based on an actual case scheduled for oral argument on

November 7, 2023, at the United States Supreme Court. At issue in the case before this Mock
Supreme Court is whether the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms limits the

authority of Congress to restrict the possession of firearms by individuals subject to domes-

tic violence restraining orders.

FACTUAL AND PROCEDURAL BACKGROUND

Following an altercation with his then girlfriend, a protective order was issued against

the Respondent limiting his contact with her for two years. Respondent received notice and
attended the court hearing for the protective order. The order specifically prohibited Mr.

Rahimi from possessing a firearm.

Respondent was suspected of shootings in and around Arlington, Texas, which were
unrelated to the domestic situation. Police officers executed a search warrant on his home
