                                                       BIOGRAPHY
                                                   COLLEEN D. DUFFY


                       The Honorable Colleen D. Duffy has served as an Associate Justice of the

               Appellate Division, Second Department, since January 2014.  She was elected to the

               Supreme Court, Ninth Judicial District, in November 2010, having first been appointed


               as a Supreme Court Justice in the beginning of that year. As a Supreme Court Justice,


               Justice Duffy sat in Bronx County from 2010 to 2013, presiding over felony trials and

               Mental Hygiene Article 10 proceedings.

                       For the six months preceding her appointment to the Second Department,


               Justice Duffy was responsible for handling post-judgment matrimonial proceedings in

               the Supreme Court, Westchester County. Prior to becoming a Supreme Court Justice,


               Justice Duffy served as Family Court judge and, earlier, as a City Court judge. She also

               had served as a Mount Vernon City Councilwoman. Justice Duffy’s career also includes


               six years as a litigation associate with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and three years as in-

               house legal counsel to Unilever United States, Inc. She is a graduate of New York

               University School of Law where she was the Competitions Editor of the Moot Court


               Board and, upon graduation, was inducted to The Order of the Barristers. Justice Duffy

               holds a masters degree in international public relations and public affairs from Boston


               University and graduated in three years with a bachelor of arts degree, magna cum

               laude, from the College of New Rochelle.


                       Justice Duffy is a member of the Advisory Board for the Judicial Institute of the

               New York State Court system and has worked with it as well as various bar


               associations in presenting continuing legal education programs over the years. She

               also has taught numerous graduate and undergraduate level courses in law, writing and
