Trot -Canter shortening and Lengthening stride
Training your Posting trot and sitting trot : Training in arena . Example in a 60 x 20
Dressage arena. Posting forward trot down the long side of arena slow down
posting trot on short side then sit trot in a circle 10-meter trot come out of the circle to
posting trot on the long side and repeat in the opposite corner down alongside medium
trot is 15 strides in the small short colt trot would be approximately 9 strikes
Training Tempo and Stride le at canter – In the arena or outside Riding area , out of
the short side or corner of training area down the long side you go forward in a 2 point
seat to a forward canter and 2 strides before the corner or short side you transfer to
a 3 point seat with collection into a canter slow down around the corner out of the
corner you continue at again 2 point seat forward pace and again 2 strikes before the
next corner sit back slow your pace down slowing your breathing down keep the slow
pace until you out of the corner then continue again with the forward cancer down the
long side Note if your horse is not slowing down good enough you go into the 10 mt
the circle at canter until you have a nice slower pace then you can continue down the
long side with forward 2 point seat . Diagram: 1 shows you how to work with the 1
point and the 3-point seat position the you can add the rider half seat for the working
canter
