James Markum and Dr. Steve Burns bred Powerful Favorite out of Remember Me Rose, who won five stakes races both in the U.S. and in Mexico, including the Ruidoso Derby-G1. Burns Ranch consigned Powerful Favorite to the sale.
Remember Me Rose has produced 100% money earners from 13 starters, including 2018 First Down Dash Derby winner Intense Fire, Mexican stakes winner Tessta Rossa, and stakes-placers Remember To Dash, The Revenant, and Jabulani. The second dam, Im Moonlighting, also produced graded stakes winner MLA Rodeorose and graded stakes- placed Im Rare.
Martha Wells’ homebred Red Hawk Cartel (Favorite Cartel-Red Hawk Chick) finished second under Erasmo Gasca rode for trainer Matthew Fales. Red Hawk Cartel won the 2018 California Breeders’ Freshman Stakes.
Terrific First Down (FDD Dynasty-Terrific Energy), a homebred owned by the Parsons Family Limited Partnership, finished third
for trainer O’Dell. Cody Jensen piloted the filly, who last year finished third in the Los Alamitos Juvenile Invitational.
Mister Appolitical (Apollitical Jess-LR Miss Atina), Heza Blues Man (Favorite Cartel-Eyesa Blues Girl), Ladys A Cartel (Five Bar Cartel- Significant Lady), I Like My Chances (Corona Cartel-Fancys First Affair), Singles Cruise (Favorite Cartel-Going Single) and Cole Man 47 (Stel Corona-GM Silver Dreams) com- pleted the order of finish. Tough Enough Jess was scratched.
