My Famous Romance One Valiant Hero Paint Me Perry
Roster Man (out of Jessy Jane, by Mr Jess Perry) won the De Saix Stakes and was ninth in the Lee Berwick Memorial Futurity-RG1 for trainer Orlando Orozco and owner Luis Armando Castellanos.
Harem Bar Cartel (out of Harem Carver, by Wave Carver) won the Firecracker Futurity at Grants Pass Downs for Montes and Carmona.
In his first crop to race, Five Bar Cartel sired 58 starters and 27 winners. His runners accumulated 42 wins and seven stakes wins in 2018, and he had six stakes winners and two stakes-placers, in addition to 40 Register of Merit recipients.
“His babies have won futurities from Louisiana all the way to the West Coast throughout the year,” Robicheaux said.
“That means a lot, for a horse standing in Louisiana to be recognized throughout the country,” he continued. “I think that’s what means the most to me.”
Robicheaux is excited to see Five Bar Cartel’s first crop return as three year olds this year and is looking forward to watching the next set of two year olds break from the starting gates, as well.
This year, however, it won’t just be Five Bar Cartel’s offspring he’s keeping an eye on, as fellow Robicheaux Ranch stallion Apollitical Blood’s first crop will compete in 2019.
“With the death of Heza Fast Dash, I needed a horse to step up for my future, and Five Bar Cartel is that horse.” Robicheaux said.
“Five Bar Cartel opened the door to me getting Apollitical Blood,” he continued. “I don’t want to be greedy, but now I’m hoping for back-to-back freshman sires.”
