Matt and Bendi Dunn excel at putting their racehorses in the best spots around the country to maximize their potential.
Luckily for them, Take A Swig Of This seems to like just about anywhere because after a successful sojourn to California, he returned to Remington Park and won the June 3 Heritage Place Derby-G2.
“He’s a sound horse, and he does love his job,” said Matt. “He’s a runner—we’re really proud of him.”
Take A Swig Of This proved his mettle in his trial for the Heritage Place Derby. Drawn on the outside on the sloppy track, he broke in the air and got away last. Nevertheless, he came running to finish third and qualify.
“I got a little concerned because we had
to ask him for all he got just to qualify,” Matt said. “But he came back good. He’s just a really good horse.”
Matt praised trainer Monty Arrossa and jockey Francisco Calderon for the time that
