he Dirty Wagon, a gelded son of On The Wagon
and with the 8th-fastest qualifier after winning his May 18 trial, earned his first lifetime stakes win in the $108,900 Harley Greene Derby for state-bred sophomores at Horseshoe Indianapolis on June 3.
Prepped by Randy Smith for owners Keith Bode & Deborah A. Smith, The Dirty Wagon covered 350-yards in :17.644, and his margin of victory was a neck over fastest qualifier Tachas Secret.
German Rodriguez rode the bay gelding,
who pocketed the $59,895 winner’s share of the purse. Raced exclusively in Indiana, The Dirty Wagon has won four of nine races and has banked $140,173. His resume includes third-place finishes in last year’s Miss Roxie Little and Leader of the Class Sale futurities.
The Dirty Wagon was bred by Amy Youngblood Peoples, and he made his season debut with a nose victory in one of four trials on May 18.
Tachas Secret (Habits Secret-Sin Tachas Angel) earned the $21,780 runner-up share of the purse for her owner Duke Racing LLC. Fernando Morin rode the sorrel filly for trainer Ricardo Martinez. Tachas Secret won last year’s Miss Roxie Little Consolation Stakes.
AJK Forgiven (Mo Zoomo-Loving On The Run) ran third, 1/2-length behind The Dirty Wagon, and banked $10,890 for her owner Jose M. Chavez. Jose Ruiz rode the homebred filly for trainer Sacramento Chavez.
Royal Sin (My Royal Wagon-Euro Blazin) finished fourth and was followed by Jess Sir E Bob (Jess Zoomin-Billie Bob), Seize Greatness (Seize The Win-Crossing The Brazos), Pandemic Beach (Escondido Beach-Brimms Fairy Tale), Runaway Beach Chic (Escondido Beach-Silly Chix), It Is On (On The Wagon-Yess It Is), and Habits Lil Teller (Habits Secret-Teller Sweet Nothins).

aking the second start of his 5-year-old
campaign, Stone Lake outran his 10-1 odds to win the 400-yard Born Runner Classic for Indiana-breds at Horseshoe Indianapolis on June 3.
Stone Lake recorded a 95 speed index while defeating HH C J Shake by a neck in :19.833. Luz D. Martinez rode the gelded son of Escondido Beach for owner and trainer Anthony Cunningham.
Stone Lake pocketed the $45,650 winner’s share of the $83,000 purse. The chestnut gelding was bred by Sheri Miller of Shipshewana, Indiana, and he was stretching out in distance off of his 6th-place finish in a 350-yard $22,000 open-condition allowance dash for Indiana-breds on May 8.
Stone Lake has won nine of 22 starts and
has earned $383,819 while racing exclusively
at Horseshoe Indianapolis. The gelding’s four lifetime stakes victories include last year’s 400-yard, $84,000 Bob Woodward Memorial Stakes.
HH C J Shake (Escondido Beach-Shakem Jake) banked the $16,600 runner-up share of the purse for his owners Larry Carter, John Myers, and Rusty Hawkins. Cesar Esqueda rode the homebred 6-year-old gelding for trainer Shawna Martin.
Beach Blast (Escondido Beach-Jess Alive Bully), the 3-5 favorite, finished third, 1/2-length behind Stone Lake. Juan D. Marquez rode the 5-year-old gelding for owners Keith Bode and Deborah A. Smith, and trainer Randy Smith.
High Rolling Seize (Seize The Win-Crossing The Brazos) was fourth and Jess Go Blue (Jess Zoomin-Miss Louisiana Blue), Sarahs Violin (Encore-Eyes On Sara), Beach Front (Escondido Beach-Run N Ruby), Chico Beach (Escondido Beach-Tuff Chiclet), and Our Game Changer (Jess Zoomin-Cant Bug This Game) completed the order of finish.
QHRAI Derby

ouisiana Faster may have been overlooked in the
wagering, but the 25-1 long shot proved fastest in a field of nine to win the $75,000 QHRAI Derby on June 24.
Ridden by Jose Ruiz, Louisiana Faster broke sharply and engaged for the lead early in the 400-yard test. He dueled with Extermynator and Apollitical Face through the lane, inched clear in the late stages, and prevailed by a neck at the finish to post the upset victory. In winning the initial stakes race of his career, Louisiana Faster, one of three Tony Cunningham-trained charges in the final, stopped the timer in :19.925 and earned a 93 speed index.
The seventh-fastest qualifier for the main event from the June 3 trials, Louisiana Faster is owned
by Pamela Brickley, and the son of The Louisiana Cartel was acquired for $20,000 out of the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association Yearling
Sale. The brown gelding is produced from the Mr Jess Perry mare Fabulously Fast, and the $41,250 winner’s share of the purse increased his bankroll to $62,475, improving his record to 10-2-2-0.
Multiple stakes winner Extermynator (Tres Seis-Cartel Regards) and jockey Juan Marquez just missed for owners Gordon Timm and Deborah Smith, finishing second for trainer Randy Smith.
Cunningham also sent out third-place finisher Namgis Kodiak Kiss (Kiss My Hocks-Mischika Brown). Ridden by Luz Martinez, the bay gelding rallied late for the show spot for owners A Win Investments and Duke Racing LLC
Apollitical Face (Apollitical Jess-Paint Your Face), Winner Spirit (Apollitical Spirit-Ms Victorita), RK Lady Dana (Bogart-RK Rollin Cartel), Jupyter (Moonin The Eagle-Separate Dynasty), Ivory Six Pax (Ivory James-Epix), and Southern Seis (Tres Seis-Southern Miss) completed the order of finish. Kaysweetlass was scratched.
