winners. His leading money earner was Mister Bird Bars, winner of four stakes races including the Delta Downs 550 Handicap. The dam of Mister Bird Bars was Elsie Hankins by Hankins’ Bars, who was out of L H Balmy Princess.
Empress Bars, by Mr Bar None and out of Squaw H, was the second ROM runner out of Squaw H. She is the dam of Native Empress by Dancing Dervish TB. Native Empress is the winner of 11 stakes races, including the Las Damas Handicap, Inaugural Handicap, Go Josie Go Handicap, Vandy’s Flash, and Miss Princess Invitational Handicap 2nd Division.
Native Empress is the dam of the stakes placed mare Native Noblesse by Raise Your Glass TB. Native Noblesse was third in the Boomer Sooner Spring Derby and Paul Travis Stakes. Native Noblesse is the dam of Noblesse Six, a son of Streakin Six who won the 1994 All American Futurity-G1.
Favorite Attraction, a race-winning daughter of Easy Jet and Native Noblesse, is the dam of five ROM including stakes placed runner Half Time Attraction by First Down Dash. Half Time Attraction was second in The Classics Futurity and third in the California Juvenile Championship-RG3. Half Time Attraction is the dam of 11 ROM runners, including stakes placer In His Dreams by Apollo TB. In His Dreams is the dam of
three stakes winners, including Firecracker Futurity-G2 winner Sizzlin Cartel.
Half Time Attraction is the dam of Apollitical Time, who holds titles as the 2005 Champion 3-Year-Old Filly, 2006 Champion Aged Mare, and 2006 Champion Aged Horse. Apollitical Time became the Champion Broodmare in 2010 when her son Apollitical Jess earned the World Champion title. Apollitical Jess is winner of the 2010 Champion of Champions-G1 and Los Alamitos Super Derby-G1.
Apollitical Jess has sired foals that have won nearly $10 million through 2016 with three crops to race. He was the 2014 AQHA Leading Money Earning Freshman Sire,
the 2015 AQHA Leading Money Earning Second Crop Sire, and the 2016 AQHA Leading Money Earning Third Crop Sire. His leading money earners include Apollitical Blood ($1,519,800), AJS High ($647,565), and Apolltical Chad ($621,226).
When we look at old ads by the Hankins Brothers, we see that they advertised King P-234 as the “cornerstone of the industry.” He earned this title as a leading sire of performance ROM, AQHA Champions, and as a maternal grandsire of AQHA Champions in the arena. Now we see that the Hankins’ Brothers built their breeding program on speed, and their interest in a good racing “short horse” is a part of their success as breeders.
