qualifying. He ran third in the finals. No Secrets Here was eligible for the Governor’s Cup Futurity, but the decision was made to send him to Ruidoso for a shot at the All American Futurity.
When No Secrets Here arrived at Ruidoso, Jones asked Ruidoso starter Les Nichols to work with the horse in the starting gate. Again, it seems the plan worked and No Secrets Here qualified for the All American as the fastest qualifier on a sloppy track in a time of :21.04.
The idea of a sloppy track for the All American can be an often talked about topic when it comes race time, and 2006 was no exception. In the Speedhorse review of the race, the track was called “a scaled down version of a river,” and everyone was hoping for a safe trip for the horses.
The 2006 All American Futurity became a two horse “match race” between fastest qualifier No Secrets Here and the second fastest qualifier Gun Battle. Gun Battle broke from the 2-hole with Freddie Martinez and No Secrets Here from the 3-hole with Cody Jensen. Gun Battle had a slight lead, but No Secrets Here would not be denied as he raced to a neck win in stakes record time of :20.886 with Gun Battle second. Third place went to Dont Let Down. The remaining order of finish was Mightys First Call (4), Remember Me Rose (5), My First Passion (6), Genune Botticelli (7), Separate Bet (8), First Freeze (9), and Okey Dokey Dale (10). No Secrets Here earned $1,000,000 for his win.
No Secrets Here, who was the fastest qualifier, wins the 2006 All American Futurity by a neck for owners Vessels Stallion Farm LLC & Benny Rosset, trainer Paul Jones and jockey Cody Jensen.
Jones described the race this way, starting with the similarity between his 2005 win with Teller Cartel, “Interestingly, we won the All American last year from a similar post, similar track conditions, in similar styles. No Secrets Here had a clean break in the finals and, even though he had to run with Gun Battle the entire race, he came through in the end.”
He then added, “We knew we had the horse that could do it. I didn’t know what effect the track conditions would have, but he surprised us again.”
No Secrets Here would return to California to qualify for the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity-G1 and run a respectable third in
that race. He came back at three to win the Z. Wayne Griffin Director’s Cup and finish second in the Los Alamitos Super Derby-G1. He ran at four, earning three seconds in the Los Alamitos Winter Championship, the Go Man Go Stakes, and the Z. Wayne Griffin Director’s Cup. His record shows that he started 19 times with
six wins, seven seconds, and four thirds with earnings of $1,637,095. He won or placed in eight stakes races.
To date, No Secrets Here is the sire of
five crops of racing age foals that have won $3,053,869 with 9 stakes winners and 19 stakes placed runners. His leading money winners are Habits Secret, winner of $325,874, and Aha Moment, winner of $318,882 as a stakes placed runner with a third in the 2012 All American Futurity-G1.
No Secrets Here would not be denied as he raced toaneckwinin stakes record time of :20.886.
When we look back at the All American Futurity, we quickly
see the world-wide appeal of this great race. This time, we have traveled the length of the continent going from Florida to California and points in between, as well as a trip to Brazil. We have seen people from all walks of life come together to pursue and fulfill the All American Dream.
