Streakin Flyer won his 1996 All American Futurity trial and was the second fastest qualifier going into the finals for owner Southern Rose Ranch, trainer Donnie Strickland and jockey Larry Layton.
When the gates opened on September 2 for the All American Futurity, Streakin Flyer got the first call with Larry Layton in the saddle. He would continue on his straight and speedy path to finish a head in front of a fast closing Speedy Empress, with Mr Special Express third. Mr Special Express popped the gate prior to the start, but still finished third. The order of finish was The Ravin Maniac (4), Ima Calyx Kitty (5), Blushin Bug (DH-6), Swingin Val (DH-6), Rare Ruler (8), and Duck N Dash (9). It was a field of nine with White Glove Delivery scratched from the race. Streakin Flyer became an instant millionaire by earning $1,079,766.
At the end of his two-year-old campaign, Streakin Flyer had surgery to repair some problems that had developed. He came back to add a third in the Mexico Derby Challenge at Retama Park. He would make six starts at three, with one win, two seconds, and a third. He would have two starts at five, with two going unplaced. His official record shows 14 starts with five wins, three seconds and one third, earning $1,141,128.
The decision to retire Streakin Flyer was made, and he was brought home with the idea of trying him on barrels. When it was determined that his size would prevent his being a top barrel horse, he was tried under English tack as a hunt seat horse.
His AQHA show record shows that he was shown one time in Hunter Under Saddle. He has even been a pony horse for Donnie Strickland, but today he is pretty much retired to life in the pasture at Donnie’s training center in Oklahoma. Janelle says he can be found giving advice to the younger set on how to win the All American Futurity.
The story of Streakin Flyer takes us from his breeder living in California, to his purchase by Donnie Strickland, an Oklahoma trainer from North Carolina, to his owners being from South Carolina. Looks like we went East of the Mississippi again by way of California.

No Secrets Here wins the 2006 All American Futurity
The 2006 All American Futurity win by No Secrets Here brings in the world-wide appeal
of the race. No Secrets Here was sired by First Down Dash and out of Dicey Secret by Raise A Secret. He was bred by the Vessels Stallion Farm in California. He was raced by the partnership of Vessels Stallion Farm and Benny Rossett of Brazil.
No Secrets Here was consigned to the Los Alamitos Equine Sale as a yearling, but
was bought back by Scoop Vessels. Then, a partnership with Rossett was formed. Rossett had worked with the Vessels Stallion Farm
over the years. He had even stood such Vessels Stallions as Timeto Thinkrich and Tolltac in the Southern Hemisphere breeding season in Brazil. Rosset bred horses for the Southern and Northern Hemisphere racing seasons and was a frequent buyer of yearlings to race.
No Secrets Here was sent to Paul Jones to start his racing career in California. No Secrets Here proved to be a challenge as he developed some gate issues. He ran third in a maiden race and then came back to win a maiden race. Jones called on Los Alamitos starter Johnny Baker to help with the gate issues, and it seems the plan worked.
No Secrets Here entered his trial for the Ed Burke Million Futurity, where he was second
