Hustle Up
(Abstraction-Speedin Excess, In Excess)
Bred by: Brad King and Todd Fincher
Owned by: Dale Taylor, Bobby McQueen, Suzanne Kirby Trained by: Todd Fincher
2018: 8-6-0-0 $252,143
Steve Prather Stakes, Mountain Top New Mexico Bred TB Futurity, Copper Top Futurity
Hustle Up is another very important feather in Fincher’s hat.
The gelding scored three black type victories in 2018 at three different tracks: the Mountain Top TB Futurity at Ruidoso, the Copper Top Futurity at Sunland and the Steve Prather Stakes at Zia. He put in a total of eight starts last year with a 6-0-0 record and $252,143. His trio of owners has high hopes for the future, including the possibility of the Kentucky Derby.
If everything goes well for the gelding,
he’s looking at an express trip to the Sunland Derby. From there, things will be played by ear, but the connections are definitely hoping for a ticket to run for the roses.
Hustle Up’s sire, Abstraction, was named the NMHBA 2018 TB Freshman Sire of the Year. The gelding has inbreeding to Mr. Prospector, Raise A Native, Northern Dancer and Victoria Regina.
The 2018 New Mexico champions are a credit to the state’s lucrative program.
