single-handedly came from KJ Desparado, who scored two big Grade 1 wins last season in the All American Futurity at Ruidoso Downs and the Texas Classic Futurity at Lone Star Park. Those victories highlighted a 6-1-0 record in 10 starts as a rookie for trainer Wesley Giles and owners John Lee, Wanda Kathy Lee and Ruben Mares.

by stakes wins with her prize offspring Danjer, the aforementioned World Champion. Dean Frey
bred and trains Danjer and co-owns him with Billy Smith and Pat Guthrie’s Downtime Enterprises LLC. The gelding received that accolade after
five wins—all in graded stakes—and two runner- up finishes in seven starts in 2021, bringing in $651,113 while racing at five tracks in four states over the course of the year. Danjer also was named the AQHA Champion in the Aged Horse and Aged Gelding categories for the second consecutive year.
Crazy Down Corona produced Empressum, the Champion Three Year Old for last year. Empressum was near-perfect as a sophomore, reaching the winner’s circle nine times in 10 starts and collecting $969,755. His championship season included victories in the Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Derby-RG2, the Ruidoso Derby-G1, the Rainbow
Derby-G1 and the Texas Classic Derby-G1. Jeff Jones and Steve Holt home-bred Empressum, a Heath Taylor trainee. Crazy Down Corona also was the number four dam by stakes wins and was the number five dam by total money earned.
Lil Famous Dash finished second by stakes winners and third by stakes wins. Her 2018 gelding Won Famous Dash in 2021 captured
the TQHA Classic Stakes-G2 at Sam Houston and the B.F. Phillips Jr. Stakes at Lone Star Park. Scarlett Hill Farm Inc. home-bred Won Famous Dash, who is trained by Rolando Almanza. Her 2019 gelding Hock It To You won the Dash For Cash Juvenile, also placing second in three other lucrative Grade 2 events: the TQHA Sale Futurity, Sam Houston Futurity and Oklahoma Futurity. Tyler Graham and Conda Maza bred Hock It To You, who is owned by Reynold Munoz and Heavy Hitters Racing Stables. Juan Diaz Jr. is the trainer.
Four of the broodmares up for the award produced seven-figure earning amounts. Savin Grace finished fourth by money earned and her 2019 gelding Jess Savin Candy produced all $1,046,200 of it.
