Laura Erickson’s

It’s been said that if you want to win, sit with the winners. That philosophy took Laura
Wipf Erickson from her college graduation to a 27-year position with what has become, with her
help, one of the most successful racing and performance
breeding operations in the Quarter Horse industry. And it all began with
Laura’s determined and unconventional offer.
THE OFFER THEY COULDN’T REFUSE
Laura, a lifelong horse lover, didn’t get her first horse until age 16. “I just had a love affair with the horse from the time
I was a little girl,” she says. “I knew that was where my passion and interest was.”
So, when she finished high school in Evergreen, Colorado, and moved away to Colorado State University
in Fort Collins, she studied equine science to prepare herself for a career
in the horse industry.
“It really developed from
there,” she says. “My connections, my contacts and my education
continued to spur that enthusiasm and passion, especially for the science side of it. At that time, I wasn’t involved in the racehorse industry at all, but I knew I wanted to go into
