FLASH BAK

The accomplished gelding Flash Bak returned to his top form on Oct. 15, with a determined victory in the $350,000 Downs at Albuquerque Fall Championship-G1, giving the 5-year-old son of Moonin The Eagle his fourth victory in a Grade 1 event.
Ridden by jockey Francisco Calderon,
Flash Bak raced in third position in the early going of the 440 yard fixture. He collared the frontrunners close to home and hit the wire together with odds-on favorite KJ Desparado, prevailing over that rival by a head. Flash Bak stopped the timer in a fast :20.921, a final time that encroached on the 2010 track record of :20.708 set by Posies Woodette. Both of the top two finishers earned a speed index of 104.

and trained by Santos Carrizales Jr., Flash Bak is now a winner in 10 of 27 lifetime starts, and the $175,000 winner’s share of the purse increased his lifetime bankroll to $1,442,657. In addition to his newest Grade
