Ray Graves Passes Away
Ray Graves passed away on Aug. 25 in Duncan, Oklahoma. Graves was an American Paint Horse Association leading breeder, owner and trainer. He has been involved in Paint racing for over 50 years, training horses such
as 2-time APHA Champion Aze Beduino. Graves formed the Paint Stallion Breeders’ Association, was inducted into the APHA Hall of Fame in 2013, and received the Paul Harber Distinguished Award in 2011.

Record Number of Additions In the Selecta Auction
The Mexican Association of Quarter Horse Breeders’ and Horsemen confirmed that the Subasta Selecta Yearling Sale will be held on Oct. 13-15. A total of 615 yearlings were consigned to the sale which set a new record number for this event. With the exception of 2016, the number of colts and fillies has grown steadily
since 2013, when 320 were recorded.
In comparing this figure, by 2020 we’ve shown an increase of 92%, reflecting the enthusiasm of this sector based on growth and genetic improvement of breeding, to offer more competitive horses. All of the yearlings are eligible to participate in the Garañones and Subasta Selecta Futuritys and Derbys, whose purses have also improved substantially.
In addition, various provisions have been made for this auction in an exceptional manner, due to the pandemic of COVID-19. For the same reason, the Hippodromo de las Americas has kept horse racing suspended since mid-March. At the close of this note,
it is known, unofficially, that the track has already obtained the approval of the health authorities to run without public presence. All that remains is for the operating company (CODERE) to agree to restart racing, while the indicators of the pandemic in Mexico City reach low-risk levels.

Nueva Cifra Récord De Añales En La Subasta Selecta.
La Asociación Mexicana de Criadores y Caballistas de Caballos Cuarto de Milla, confirmó que la Subasta Selecta de Añales se realizará del 13 al 15 de octubre, y que fueron inscritos 615 añales al libro correspondiente, siendo esta una nueva cifra récord para este evento. Con excepción
de 2016, la cantidad de potros y potrancas ha crecido sostenidamente desde 2013, cuando se inscribieron 320 ejemplares. En comparación con esta cifra, para 2020 obtenemos un incremento del 92%, reflejando el dinamismo de este sector basado en el crecimiento y mejoría genética en
el pie de cría equino, para ofrecer productos más competitivos.Todos estos añales son elegibles para participar en los Futurity’s y Derby’s México, Garañones y Subasta Selecta, cuyos premios también han mejorado sustancialmente.
Adicionalmente, se dieron a conocer diversas disposiciones que se adoptarán en esta subasta de manera excepcional, debido a la pandemia por COVID - 19. Por este mismo motivo,
el Hipódromo de Las Américas mantiene suspendidas las carreras de caballos desde mediados del mes de marzo. Al cierre de esta nota se sabe, extraoficialmente, que ya obtuvo
la aprobación de las autoridades sanitarias
para correr sin presencia de público. Solo falta que la empresa operadora (CODERE) acceda
a reiniciar bajo este esquema, mientras los indicadores de la pandemia en la Ciudad de México alcanzan niveles de bajo riesgo.
