TQHA Classic-RG2
JORDAN EAGLE
by John Moorehouse
Make it three stakes wins, and counting, for Jordan Eagle. The four-year-old colt reached that milestone with a sharp run to victory in the $65,000
TQHA Classic-RG2 at Retama Park on July 24.
The heavy post-time favorite at 6-5 odds, Jordan
Eagle came flying late to run away with the victory. He was running fifth in a crowded group entering the stretch, only to emerge and win by daylight with a 1 1/4-length margin.
Alonso Neri trains Jordan Eagle, who finished his 400-yard trip in :20.005 to register a 93 speed index. Manuel Gutierrez rode the colt to victory.
Javier Rosique owns Jordan Eagle, who has reached the winner’s circle in five of his 10 career starts. Three of those five wins, as mentioned, are stakes races. The other victories in stakes company include the 2018 Evangeline Downs Futurity and that year’s running of the Dash For Cash Juvenile. The $39,000 prize from the TQHA Classic improved his total earnings to $230,322.
Weetona Stanley bred Jordan Eagle out of unraced PYC Prize Doll. She has produced 100% money earners from six starters.

TQHA 250 Stakes
BLUEMOONTELLER
by John Moorehouse
After a four-race win streak ended in his previ- ous out, Bluemoonteller got back on track as he powered to victory in the $54,000 TQHA 250 Stakes at Retama Park on July 24.
Bluemoonteller won last year’s running of the Golden Driller Stakes at Fair Meadows, which kicked off a four-race win streak. A fifth-place finish in the John Andreini Memorial Stakes at Ruidoso in May snapped that streak—and marked the 2020 debut for Bluemoonteller. This time, he made a sharp finish to return to the winner’s circle. After well breaking from the 7-post, the gelding grabbed the lead by a head entering the stretch and drove to win by 1-length.
Cindi Keeton trains Bluemoonteller, who finished the sprint in :13.345 for a 99 speed index while running through a 12 mph crosswind. Luis Vivanco was aboard.
Owned by Three Bar T Quarter Horses, the five-year-old gelding doubled his stakes win total and notched his ninth overall triumph. Bluemoonteller banked a $32,400 payday that pushed his lifetime earnings into six figures at $105,913.
Billy Kothmann bred Bluemoonteller out of winner Blue Moon Bye Bye. She has produced two winners from six starters.
All About The Kiss (Kiss My Hocks-All About Tonight) also closed well to finish second for owners Marc and Michelle Jungers. Marc Jungers also trains the filly, who had Lucas Constantin up.
Making her first start of 2020, Cosmo Lela (Cosmograph-Special Dashing Girl) finished third by a neck for Jose Edelio Cantu Jr. The Joel Cantu trainee had Victor Urieta Jr. in the irons.
Rounding out the finishing order were This Guys A Volcom (Volcom-Kimbo Cartel), Texaslittlebro (Mr Ottyes-Lovely Legs), Woulda (Tempting Dash- Passem Up Perry), DM La Jolla (Hiclass La Jolla-DM Bella Mia) and The Ram Cartel (The Louisiana Cartel-Jos Jody O Toole).

VIVA LE DON
by John Moorehouse
Viva Le Don logged his second straight stakes
win, with both races coming at the 550-yard distance, after prevailing in the $53,250 TQHA 550 Stakes-RG3 by 3/4-lengths at Retama Park on July 24.
With Jose Vega aboard, Viva Le Don snared the early lead and remained in front at each remaining call, widening his gap at every juncture. Tammy Kay Johnson trains Viva Le Don, who finished this 550- yard trip in :27.715 for a 95 speed index. The victory also produced a $31,950 payday, which increased the total earnings of the gelding to $300,937.
Rockin J Running Horses owns Viva Le Don, a four-year-old gelding who now holds five wins in 19 total starts. Three of those five victories have come in stakes races. The others were the 2018 running of the Black Gold 350 Futurity at Remington Park, and the July 4 Tower of the Americas Stakes held earlier in this Retama meet. Viva Le Don also qualified for three graded derbies last year, finishing in the money in two of those events.
Tammy Johnson and Jack Manning bred Viva Le Don out of winner Viva Arriba. She has produced 100% money earners from three starters.
Last year’s winner of the TQHA 550 Stakes, Jax Louisiana Game (The Louisiana Cartel-Thunder Got Game) secured runner-up honors this time after finishing third in the Tower of Americas in July. Reta Hamilton owns Jess Louisiana Game, a Leon Bard trainee who had Francisco Calderon in the irons.
Coronas On The Coast (Special Royal Corona- Coasting Rabbit) made a game run for third place for owner/trainer Jose Espinosa. Noe Villatoro drew the riding assignment.
First Impulse (Volcom-Tosca’s Rock TB), Strawberry Tattoo (Dealagame-Lost Luv), and Shake Rattle N Soar (Royal Shake Em-Where Eagles Soar) completed the field. The Kings Horse scratched.
