FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Dear Members,
Due to the cancellation of the 42 days of
racing between Sunland Park & SunRay Park, there is very little racing news, so we have decided to do this abbreviated digital Summer issue of our magazine.
Our staff have been keeping very busy. Our Registrar, Ernestine Aragon, was able
to continue to process applications through our website, email, fax, and the U.S. Postal Service while our lobby was closed due to CO- VID-19. We are now welcoming people back into our lobby as long as they wear a face cov- ering. If you do not have a face covering, we ask you to complete your paperwork outside. You can still call us with any questions.
Please check out our new and improved web- site at nmhorsebreeders.com. We are planning on selling advertisement spaces soon so let us know if you are interested. We have added a lot of new features including our Horse and Mem-
bership Directories. This could come in handy on the weekends when we are not available to assist you. Please feel free to give it a try and call us with any questions at (505) 262-0224.
Once the New Mexico Racing Commis- sion decided to cancel the remainder of the Sunland Park meet and the entire SunRay Park meet, the New Mexico Horsemen’s Association and the managers of each of the five racetracks came together with us to work on what is called the Purse Tax Agreement. Although the purses are still having to be cut, we are grateful for what we have and for being able to start racing again. Thank you to everyone who participated.
