     Jay D “Bullet” Standefer April 30, 1932 - March 15, 2020

Jay D “Bullet” Standefer, 87 years old, passed away at home in Roswell, NM on March 15, 2020.
He was born April 30, 1932 in Morton, TX to the home of Faye and James Clayton Standefer.
Bullet lost his father at the age of 12 years old. He began working in the oilfields and ranches before joining the United States Air Force in Feb- ruary of 1952. While in the Air Force he served in Greenland, Seymour, Indiana, and Memphis, Tennessee. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in February of 1956. He then start- ed work at Canon Air Force Base as a firefighter until he retired as fire chief in 1982. Bullet then moved to Roswell, NM and started a new hobby of owning racehorses and watching them run.
He married his wife Mary Lou in 1995, and they enjoyed breeding and raising Quarter Horses. Together, they loved their horses and seeing them race. Bullet and Mary Lou were very proud to have four state Champions. He loved animals and always had a dog by his side. You could always hear him singing or whistling a tune.
Bullet was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church in Portales, NM.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, two brothers and two sisters: James “Bud” Standefer, Joe Bob Standefer, Evelyn Ellis, and Anna Faye Lee.
Bullet is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Stande- fer, four children; Brenda Brady and husband Dan, Steve Standefer, Bruce Standefer and wife Kathy Jo, and Jay Don Standefer Bullet loved animals and in lieu of flowers please consider in kind donations to Roswell Animal Services
Peggy Joyce Harmon December 18, 1935 – May 9, 2020
Peggy Joyce Harmon, age 84, passed on May 9th, 2020 in Sun City, Arizona. She was born December 18th, 1935 in Farley, New Mexico. She is survived by her Loving Husband Bobbie Ray Harmon.
Jimmy Allen Jamison December 18, 1969 – May 10, 2020
Jimmy Allen Jamison, a longtime NM Horseman, passed away unexpectedly at his home in El Paso, Texas.
Jimmy was born December 18, 1969 in El Paso, Texas, to O.D. and Fannie Jamison. Jimmy has accomplished much in his life, but his main contribution was his ever-pres- ent smile and ability to make you smile. Big Jim as he was fondly called was always ready to help. He worked side by side with his father O.D. Jamison and his uncle Johnie Jamison for twenty-five years shouldering the load for both.
His passion for racehorses and people was evident to everyone who met him.
Jimmy is survived by his beloved mother Fannie Jamison; brothers Johnnie (Kimber), O.D. Jr. (Kelly), Stephen Ray (Rachelle)
and sisters Linda (Fred), Judy (Flaco), nieces Stephanie (Justin), Natasha (Steven) Chan- nel, Jessica; nephews Dr. Weston, Wacey, Waco, Wryder, Cody, Tristan and great nieces Kasey, Wysh, Addie, Lakelyn, Oaklyn, Nova and Cameron. He was preceded in death by his father O.D. Jamison Sr.
William F. Leach June 16, 1931-June 4, 2020
William F. Leach, 88, of Brady, Texas passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020 in Brady. He was born in Fredonia, Texas to William Foster Leach, Sr., and Lois (Bratton) Leach on June 16, 1931. He married Jeanne Awbrey on June 23, 1980, in Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico.
He graduated in 1948 from Brady High School. His interests included F.F.A., basketball, baseball, and choral. He served in the Army and was awarded the National Defense Medal.
In 1966 Bill started training horses at Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico. He trained both quarter horses and thoroughbreds. He was successful at various tracks throughout Texas, in New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and others. He was named leading trainer
at Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico, for several years during the 80’s.
Officially retired from horse training in 2008, Bill continued to pursue owning, breed- ing, and racing horses. As one of the highlights to his career, in 2016, he was inducted into the Ruidoso Racehorse Hall of Fame.
Bill is preceded in death by three sisters and their husband: Kathleen Enger and How- ell Cobb, Lois Marie and Myrick H. Carson, Sr., and Mary Elizabeth and Johnny Wayne Jones, Sr.
Bill is survived by his wife, Jeanne Leach. He is also survived by two nieces, Virginia Gleaton and Susan Jones, and by four neph- ews, Mike Carson, Johnny Jones, Bill Carson, and Robert Cobb. The Leach, Bratton, and Awbrey families offer many additional surviving relatives.
