 Dear Members,
The Annual Meeting was held Janu-
ary 30, 2020 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel
in Albuquerque. Mark your calendar for Thursday, January 28, 2021 to attend the next Annual Meeting in Albuquerque. The location will be announced at a later date.
Before the 2019 audit review, it shows a net gain of $93,306.00. This was a result of the income from the Stallion Auction held in August prior to the New Mexico Bred Year- ling Sale, the Export Mare registrations and the Silent Auction income. 2019 members totaled 946. Registrations overall decreased by about 5%. This year we saw the decrease in the Quarter Horse foals, broodmares and stallions. Affidavits continue to be
mailed confirming the accuracy of the information stated on New Mexico Bred applications submitted.
The Trustees worked very hard to find ways to earn more income for our Associa- tion and also to cut expenses. Through their efforts we were able to come in under budget by $59,822.00 in 2019.
The Officers for 2020 are
President Tom Goncharoff, 1st Vice Presi-
dent Mike Logan and 2nd Vice President Jay L. Taylor.
I would like to welcome back Norma Alvarez of La Union as a Quarter Horse Trustee and our new Quarter Horse Trustee, Mark Brown of San Acacia. Nancy Summers of Albuquerque and C. Warren Franklin of Ruidoso Downs are our new Thoroughbred Trustees. I would like to thank the depart- ing Trustees Mindy McArthur, Thomas W. Pierce, Jr., Denton Crozier and Bill
Shepard for their years of serving on
our Board.
Thanks to Jay L. Taylor for delivering the Annual Report and for helping with the Association budget and investments.
We are gearing up for the race dates discussion and the meetings that will follow. Commissioner Buffington plans to have the dates for 2021 decided in June. These are open meetings and I will try to get the word out on the time and dates. I hope that some of you will find time to attend.
Good luck at the races!
Mary Barber, NMHBA Executive Director
