Cat Daddys Lil Girl, a homebred Big Daddy Cartel filly owned by cousins Jimmy Negrete and Jimmy Vasquez, ended her sophomore season with a neck victory in the December 1, 400-yard New Mexico Filly & Mare Quarter Horse Championship (RG1) at Zia Park.
Trained by Cynthia Gonzalez, Cat Daddys Lil Girl stopped the timer in :19.747 under jockey Mauro Salcedo. The gray filly earned
a 93 speed index while banking the $87,000 winner’s share of a $145,000 purse.
Cat Daddys Lil Girl’s sire, Big Daddy Cartel, is a 10-year-old son of the Holland Ease stallion Corona Cartel. Raced at Ruidoso Downs in 2011, the gray stallion earned $121,800 from five starts, and he was a finalist in the All American (G1) and Rainbow (G1) futurities.
Big Daddy Cartel has sired the earners
of more than $7.3 million from four crops, including multiple graded stakes winners Bigg Daddy, Mamacita Cartel and Daddys Blushing, and graded stakes winners Donelli and Honky Tonk Daddy. A half-brother to stakes win-

Cat Daddys Lil Girl is out of Girlonthego, a 7-year-old daughter of Man On The Move
who banked $174,146 from six races and won the 2014 Zia Futurity (RG1) at Ruidoso Downs. The filly’s third dam, the winning Kiptys Charger mare Kiptys Wish, ran second in the ‘91 Fiesta Derby at Bandera Downs in Texas and was a finalist in that season’s Bandera Downs Derby (G2) and Manor Downs Derby (G3).
Cat Daddys Lil Girl was coming off of a sec- ond-place finish, a nose behind winner Sinsational Tacha, in the 400-yard, $35,000 Pitre GMC Distaff Stakes at Albuquerque Downs on October 26. Raced exclusively in New Mexico, the filly has won five of 12 outs and has earned $245,062.
Cat Daddys Lil Girl’s resume includes second- place finishes in the Zia Derby (RG2) at Ruidoso Downs and New Mexico State Fair Quarter Horse Derby (R) at Albuquerque Downs. The filly was also a finalist in the 2018 New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2) at Sunland Park and Mountain Top Futurity (RG3) at Ruidoso Downs.
Cat Daddys Lil Girl was sent to post as the 2-1 favorite in the field of nine distaffers and returned a $6.80 win mutuel. Hollywoodcrown, an 11-1 longshot, finished second to complete a $2 exacta payoff of $68.
Chicks Baby Suds finished third, three-quar- ters of a length behind Cat Daddys Lil Girl, and was followed by First N Forever, Woodys Copy
Cat, Tooflashyforyou, Jess Fire Chick, Regard The Rose, and Sister Sophia.
Hollywoodcrown is a homebred 4-year-old Heza Motor Scooter mare owned by Fred Danley of Anthony, New Mexico. Hollywoodcrown has won six of 29 races, and the $29,000 runner-up share of the purse pushed her bankroll to $245,223.
A 3-year-old Jess A Chicks filly campaigned by Jacob J. Simmons III, Chicks Baby Suds was a $15,000 yearling purchase at the 2017 New Mexico-Bred Sale at Ruidoso Downs. Chicks Baby Suds has won four of six starts, including the May 17, 400-yard New Mexico Breeders’ Stakes (RG3) at SunRay Park, and the $14,500 third-place share of the purse increased her earn- ings to $84,978.
