  A sharp break from post 6 helped Cat Daddys Lil Girl score her second career stakes victory in the January 11, $100,000 Lou Wooten/Sydney Valentini Handicap (R) for New Mexico-bred Quarter Horse distaffers at Sunland Park.

ers Jimmy Negrete and Jimmy Vasquez, Cat Daddys Lil Girl went 400 yards in :19.565 under Mauro Saucedo while aided by a reported 9-mph tail wind. The homebred 4-year-old daughter
of Big Daddy Cartel banked $60,000 from her sixth win in 13 starts, all in New Mexico.
Cat Daddys Lil Girl ended her sopho-
more campaign with a victory in the 400- yard, $145,000 New Mexico Filly & Mare Championship (RG1) at Zia Park on December 1. The mare’s sire, Big Daddy Cartel, is a 10-year-old son of the Holland Ease stallion Corona Cartel. Raced at Ruidoso Downs in 2011, the gray stallion earned $121,800 from five starts, and he was a finalist in the All American (G1) and Rainbow (G1) futurities.
Big Daddy Cartel has sired the earners
of more than $7.3 million from four crops, including multiple graded stakes winners
Bigg Daddy, Mamacita Cartel and Daddys Blushing. A half-brother to stakes winner Racy
La Jolla, the stallion is owned by and stands MJ Farms at Veguita, New Mexico.
A half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Ryansmanonthemoon, Cat Daddys Lil Girl is out of Girlonthego, a 7-year-old daughter of Man On The Move who banked $174,146 from six races and won the 2014 Zia Futurity (RG1) at Ruidoso Downs. The filly’s third dam, the winning Kiptys Charger mare Kiptys Wish, ran second in the ‘91 Fiesta Derby at Bandera Downs in Texas.
The $60,000 winner’s share of the Lou Wooten/Sydney Valentini Handicap purse increased Cat Daddys Lil Girl’s earnings to $305,062, of which $201,396 was banked from seven outs during her sophomore season. The filly’s record includes second place runs in last year’s Zia Derby (RG2) at Ruidoso Downs
and New Mexico State Fair Derby (R) at Albuquerque Downs.
Woodys Copy Cat finished second, three- quarters of a length behind Cat Daddys Lil Girl, and was followed by DJs Winner, Sister Sophia, Chicks Baby Suds, Hollywoodcrown, Zee James, Tooflashyforyou, First N Forever, and Addy Ann Angel Eyes.
Woodys Copy Cat is owned by Enrique Barrera, who purchased the brown daughter
of the Dash Ta Fame stallion Woodbridge
for $4,700 at the 2017 New Mexico-Bred Yearling Sale at Ruidoso Downs. The filly has won five of 18 races, including the 2018 New Mexico Cup Futurity (RG2) at Zia Park, and she has earned $350,928.
DJs Winner is a homebred daughter of the Holland Ease stallion Winners Version campaigned by Double Eagle Ranch at Roswell, New Mexico. The 4-year-old mare has won three of 12 outs, all in New Mexico, and she has banked $64,660,
and she was a finalist in last year’s Zia Derby (RG2).
