Shakeitonthebeach won her second straight race and registered her first stakes score with a clear victory in the $183,200 Gordon Mobley Futurity at Indiana Grand on June 15.
Piloted by Jose Beltran, Shakeitonthebeach broke like a shot and cleared her rivals early, quickly opening a 1-length lead on her nearest pursuer in the 300-yard dash. She was never headed or threatened and
cruised to a 1/2-length tally.
The fastest qualifier for the
main event, Shakeitonthebeach
stopped the timer in :15.528,
earning a 94 speed index.
Randy Smith trains the filly
and the $100,760 winner’s
share of the purse increased her
earnings to $105,110.
Smith indicated that
Shakeitonthebeach had
a light training regimen
heading into the final. “We
didn’t do a whole lot with her

between the trial and the final, we just tried to keep her quiet and calm,” he shared with the media. “She goes back and forth between the track and the farm. She breaks like a rocket. We are proud to have her in the barn.”

For longtime breeder Mark Michel, Kissmelikethat’s victory in the $126,300 Jaguar Rocket Futurity at Indiana Grand on June 15
carried extra special meaning. In running his
win streak to three and remaining unbeaten in
his young career, Kissmelikethat gave his owner/ breeder Michel his first-ever stakes win as an owner.
Ridden by Shanley Jackson, Kissmelikethat raced in contention throughout. He broke alertly from the 2-gate in third position at the start of the 300-yard test.
He closed the gap on early leader BV Runaround Sue and then dueled with race favorite Louisiana Lover to the finish, defeating that one by a nose at the finish.
In winning his third con- secutive race, Kissmelikethat covered the distance over a sloppy track in :15.720 and earned an 88 speed index.
“I have raised horses for 18 years,” said Michel, who
also bred two other entrants in the final— Loveherlikethat and Heza Classy Cartel “so it was almost more of a relief to win one. I finally got that first stakes win. It’s exciting.”
Trained by Ron Raper, Kissmelikethat added the $69,465 winner’s share of the purse to his bankroll, pushing his career earnings to $81,015.
Michel bred Kissmelikethat out of multiple stakes winner Lovemelikethat. Her
victories include the 2011 Sterlie Bertram Memorial Stakes and the 2010 Miss Roxie Little Futurity. The New Track Record Setter has produced 100% winners from four starters, including stakes placed Jesslikethat, who finished second in
the Speed Sale Stakes. Kissmelikethat is her first stakes winner.
