Torres-Casas qualified the colt Laveen Eagle and the filly RR Czech This Panama to the $63,250 AQRA Futurity hosted at Turf Paradise on Dec. 15. They hit the Exacta, as Laveen Eagle defeated his stablemate by a head.
Both had clean trips, getting away well from posts 3 and 4. They battled together for most of the 350 yards, with Laveen Eagle leading by just a head at every call, and they maintained the margin of victory to the finish line. Laveen Eagle and jockey Kevin Carbajal edged RR Czech This Panama
and jockey Emilio Tapia and stopped the timer in :17.574, posting a 101 speed index.
The $31,625 winner’s share of the purse raised the colt’s earnings to $117,387. Laveen Eagle’s race record now stands at five wins from seven starts, including two stakes victories. He won his first three races, including the AQRA Presidents Open Spring Futurity.
Salvador Pimienta bred Laveen Eagle in Arizona out of winner Sonora Cartel. She has produced five winners from six starters, including stakes-placed El Saucito.
Runner-up RR Czech This Panama (Panama Wes-Cranberry Czech) ran second in the Desert Classic Futurity and third in the Arizona Downs Futurity this year.
Whiskey Wes (Panama Wes-Maur Bug) placed third under Jacob Enriquez for owner Andrea Canales and trainer Adolfo Armendariz Celaya.
Completing the field were Sapphire Boots (Fishers Flash-Saras Boots), JZ Wagon Train (BP Wagon Train-Ruby N Diamonds TB), JZ My Eagles Alibi (One Dashing Eagle-Ima Lady Of Thesouth), Bringin On The Heat (Heat Warning-Already In Love), Jinxx (Texas Icon-Cant Buy Love), Kirby (Heat Warning-Loves What Counts), and First Down Icon (Texas Icon-First Down Sass).

rancisco J. Ayon’s Turbulent Kisses captured the first
stakes victory of his career in the $19,000 Dashing All The Way Stakes at Turf Paradise on Dec. 21.
Sent to post as the 7-10 favorite in a field of eight, Turbulent Kisses tripped the timer in :6.479 under jockey Aaron Belloc. He earned a 95 speed index and the $10,524 winner’s share of the purse. That raised his earnings to $59,830, of which $44,589 has been pocketed from eight races in Arizona in 2022. His race record now stands at 17-5-4-5.
He was shortening in distance off of his second- place finish, a head behind winner Wildroses101,
in the 300-yard Wayne Brasher Memorial Stakes
at Turf Paradise on Nov. 19. In 2022 he also placed second in the Arizona Downs Wayne Brasher Memorial Stakes on July 4, and placed third in the Rillito Park Championship Stakes on April 3 and the Allred Brothers Stakes on Jan. 26.
Heraclio Botello trains Turbulent Kisses, who was an $8,000 claimer during the 2020 Los Alamitos meet. Turbulent Kisses was bred in California by Jose De Jesus Ubario. The gelding is out of winner Kisses Calientes, who set a New Track Record at Pleasanton in 2013. Turbulent Kisses is her only starter from her two foals.
Hot Girl Summer B (Jess Louisiana Blue-Greystone Girl) finished second under jockey Oscar Peinado for owner Highland Park Racing Partners. Havid Canez trains the Louisiana-bred sophomore filly.
Dedikated (Duponte-Kpax) placed third under jockey Ernie Aispuro for her owner Jose Aguilar Mendoza and trainer Eloy Navarro.
Rockin Jo Kool (Kool Wagon-Solid Anita Jo) ran fourth and was followed by Thru My Eyes (Fly Thru The Fire-Dawn Of A New Day), Carters Bayou Rose (Carters Cartel-Rosey Does It), Famous Blue Eagle (One Famous Eagle-Shades Of Blues Girl), and Wagon Coast (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Me Chickie).

ive Bar Jess Cartel captured the initial stakes race
of his career with an impressive victory in the $50,000 LQHBA Louisiana Million Invitational at Evangeline Downs on Dec. 17.
Piloted by Arturo Alvarez, Five Bar Jess Cartel raced in third position early in the 400-yard test for juveniles who failed to qualify for the LQHBA Million. He pressured the leaders throughout, forged to a narrow lead in the late stages, and prevailed by a neck at the finish. He stopped the timer in :19.961, earning an 86 speed index as well as the $30,000 winner’s share of the purse, which boosted his earnings to $62,930.
His race record now stands at 9-3-1-2. Owned
by Fausto Mendoza and trained by Joel Huitron,
he broke his maiden at Delta Downs on Aug. 13
and then won an allowance race in his next out at Evangeline on Oct. 13. He was also a finalist in the Louisiana Juvenile Stakes at Delta Downs on July 16.
Bred in Louisiana by Gerard Hebert, Five Bar Jess Cartel is out of winner Jess Tempting To Fly. She has produced two winners, both stakes winners from three starters. Quid Pro Quo, a full brother to Five Bar Jess Cartel, won the 2021 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile-RG2.
Runner-up Splishsplash Piloto (Mr Piloto- Splishsnsplash) just missed under jockey Guadalupe Lucio Jr. He is owned and trained by Martin Trejo.
RF Debs Dash N Blue (Jess Louisiana Blue-Fast Dash N Deb) and jockey Gilbert Ortiz showed the way early and finished a close third for owner Rogers Farm and trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr.
Oh Hez Fast (Jet Black Patriot-PM Oh Shez Fast), Wild Train Fortune (Freighttrain B-Cartels Fortune), JJ Freight Star (Freighttrain B-Jess A Little Star), Bigtime Adored (Mr Piloto-Adored Bigtime), Blue Storm Comin (Jess Louisiana Blue-W Project), and JM Tee Cos Mon Coeur (Tee Cos-Packin Robi) completed the order of finish.
