AJAX DOWNS SET FOR FIRST FULL SEASON IN

(May 11) Ajax Downs in Ontario, Canada, began its first full season in two years. The 25- day meet offers 18 stakes events as well as racing around the hook for the first time. Events at the track include Fan Appreciation Day, a Father’s Day celebration, and Family Fun Day.
FIRST COLD WAVE AJAX HORSE OF THE YEAR
(May 11) Ajax Downs has named First Cold Wave (Cold Hard Dash-Cassies Carver, Wave Carver) their 2021 Horse of the Year. This is only the third time in the track history that a two year old has been given this honor. The Ontario-bred sorrel gelding was a leader by
wins in 2021 and has earned $81,028 thus far. At Ajax Downs in 2021, he went wire-to-wire in the $51,622 Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity, won the $93,047 Alex Picov Memorial Futurity, and finished second in the $48,683 Ontario Bred Futurity. First Cold Wave, who earned 39 QROOI points, is bred/owned by Robert Bailey and trained by Jason Pascoe.
2022 RODEO HALL OF FAME HONOREES
(May 13) The Rodeo Historical Society and the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum announced the 2022 nominees for induction into the Rodeo Hall of Fame as well as three Award honorees, with the induction to be held Nov. 11-12. The 2022 Tad Lucas Memorial Award honors a living female whose actions promote the values of Tad Lucas, a ProRodeo Hall of Fame and all-around cowgirl, and this year goes to Martha Josey, a World Champion barrel racer. The 2022 Ben Johnson Memorial Award is given to a living individual who represents the Western lifestyle exemplified by the film actor, stunt man and world champion rodeo cowboy, and this year goes to Chuck Sylvester, who was the general manager of the

YAIR DANIEL BAEZ SOTO WINS 5 AT HIPDROMO
(May 15) Jockey Yair Daniel Baez Soto won five consecutive races at the Hipodromo de

In race 1 he won aboard Testify in a 350-yard allowance; in race 2 he won on Stay And Play NR in the Revelation Classic; in race 3 he won a 350-yard allowance aboard La Diamante Cartel; in race 4 he won aboard La Feature This Bell in a 300-yard allowance; and in race 5 he won with DK Dantera in a 300- yard maiden.

NEW QDATA CATALOG APP
(May 17) Formerly Robin Glenn Pedigrees, QData has released a new sale catalog app called the QData Catalog App, an updated version replacing the RGP Catalog App. The new versions offers the following: an option to save, sort and email pages from multiple catalogs; the ability to markup, annotate and print pages; share horses with notes and markups on Facebook
or via email, text or messenger; vie videos and photos directly from the catalog page; search
by horse name, sire, dam, dam sire, sex, year foaled, AQHA Challenge nominated horses,
and consignor; and the ability to rate horses with your conformation evaluations. “Our goal has always been to provide horsemen with innovative marketing and evaluation tools,” said Robin Glenn, director of QData. “This app is no exception, and it truly provides a one-of-kind service for horsemen.”
CHAVIRA/FLORES WINS 3 AT REMINGTON
(May 22) Trainer Luz Chavira and jockey James Flores each won three races at Remington Park. Chavira won the third, fifth and seventh races, while Flores, who was the leading rider at the track in 2018, 2019 and 2020, won the fourth, eighth and tenth races.
JOHN ANDREINI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD WINNERS
(May 30) The 2022 John Andreini Scholarship award winners were recognized in the winner’s circle at Ruidoso Downs following the running of the John Andreini Memorial, which was won by Hesa Party Wagon. The scholarship recipients are Bailey Ziegler, Brooklyn Stephenson, Abegail Lopez, Shaden Marr, Karsyn Reed, Mathew Gonzales and Ryder Foix. The fund awards deserving students involved in the equine industry with financial assistance towards a college education and is named in honor of the late John Andreini.

KARL STRESSMAN NAMED AQHA EXECUTIVE VP
(May 16) The American Quarter Horse Association announced that Karl Stressman was selected to assume the Executive Vice President leadership role. Stressman has over 25 years’ experience in the western and horse industries, possesses the business knowledge to further current growth patterns, has the initiative to drive change, the leadership skills required to manage a team of talented staff, the foresight to recognize future needs and the desire to ensure the best for AQHA members and their horses worldwide.
