$591,326. Chicks Beduino is by Beduino TB, the all-time leading Thoroughbred sire of Quarter Horse money earners. His foals have earned $13,099,594 and his leading money earner is Strawberry Silk with $1,266,263.
The dam of Chicks Beduino is A Classy Chick, a winner of two of her starts with earnings of $11,662. She is the dam of only two foals, with Chicks Beduino being her big money earner. The sire of A Classy Chick brings us back to a familiar cross that we have seen
in the pedigree of Mr Jess Perry. The sire of A Classy Chick is Chicks Deck by Three Chicks, who is by Three Bars and out of Chicado V. The dam of One Famous Lady is One Slick Cookie. This mare is a stakes placed runner by Dash For Cash. One Slick Cookie is the dam of 10 ROM runners, including Enchantment Stakes and QHRA Indiana Derby winner Focus On Speed.
The dam of One Slick Cookie
is Pfeffernusse by Tiny’s Gay. Pfeffernusse was third in the Anne Burnett Invitational Handicap and is the dam of eight ROM. Her leading money earner is One Slick One, a full brother to One Slick Cookie, who was a 12 time stakes finalist and winner of the 1990 Sun Country Futurity-G1.
Pfeffernusse is the leading money earner out of Chick’s Fantacia, the dam of seven ROM. The sire of Chick’s Fantacia is Three Chicks. This gives the pedigree of One Famous Eagle his fourth cross to the Three Bars/Chicado V cross. It also gives One Famous Lady a breeding pattern of 5x5
to Chicado V and is another example of inbreeding to a Superior Female. Thus, we
see a cross that is linebreeding to Chicado V through Scoopie Fein (4x4 to Chicado V) and One Famous Lady (5x5 to Chicado V). This brings the influence of Chicado V forward in the pedigree to keep her influence important.
     THE DAM
Bodacious Dream proved herself on the track and then she entered the broodmare band to become a blue-collar producer. She
is the dam of 34 foals, with 28 of race age. Her runners have earned 21 ROM from
26 starters. Bodacious Dream is the dam of newly crowned World Champion Bodacious Eagle and stakes placed runners Tango In Cash, who was second in the 2015 A Ransom Handicap and 2016 Cypress Handicap with earnings of $43,291, and Emnent, who was second in the 2017 Firecracker Futurity-G2 with earnings of $74,893. In total, Bodacious Dream’s foals have earnings of $1,663,662.
Bodacious Dream is by Corona Cartel, the #1 all-time leading living sire of money earners. His foals have earned in excess of $60 million. His leading money earner is 2007 World Champion and Champion
of Champions-G1 winner Blues Girl Too. Corona Cartel is making his presence known as a broodmare sire and is #5 on the all- time leading broodmare sire list with over $51 million in earnings. His leading money earner is Worth Doing with $1,182,696.
Corona Cartel is by Holland Ease by First Down Dash by Dash For Cash. Corona Cartel is out of Corona Chick by Chicks Beduino. This brings us back to the influence of Chicado V through A Classy Chick who is by Chick’s Deck by Three Chicks, the son of Chicado V.
Here is what makes this so interesting. When we look at the pedigree of Bodacious Eagle, we see a “return the blood” pattern. One Famous Lady is by Chicks Beduino and out of One Slick Cookie by Dash For Cash. Corona Cartel is by Holland Ease, a grandson of Dash For Cash, and he is out of Corona Chick by Chicks Beduino. This concentrates the blood of this cross into the foal produced through
the pedigree of the sire’s dam. In addition, we get another cross of Chicks Beduino and that moves the blood of this stallion forward in the pedigree, keeping him and his connection to Chicado V as a part of the pedigree.
THE FAMILY INFLUENCE
A theme that stood out in my interview with Javier Rodriguez was that they picked runners that came from prominent mare families. We see that in the mares Jess Significant, Miss Lena Perry, First Fervor and, of course, Dashing Phoebe. The granddam of Jess Significant is AQHA Dam of Distinction Dash Master Miss, who is
the dam of six stakes winners including 2000 Champion 3-Year-Old Filly, 2001 Champion Aged Mare Significant Speed, the dam of Jess Significant. Miss Lena
Perry is a granddaughter of AQHA Dam of Distinction Corona Chick, who is the dam of four stakes winners including three Grade 1 stakes winners (including Corona Cartel). First Fervor is a daughter of Marcy Darling, the dam of three stakes winners including Champion First To Flash and First To Shine, a leading sire of horses with earnings of over $12 million. The interesting part of this pedigree is that the fifth dam of First Fervor in the tail female line is the Champion Vanetta Dee, who is out of AQHA Dam of Distinction Garretts Miss Pawhuska, who was the dam of three Champions.
The role of Dashing Phoebe in this pedigree has been emphasized and she truly lives up to that role as the foundation. Dashing Phoebe was bred by the San Jose Cattle Company under the management
of Wes Shahan. She raced from 1985 to

This includes five stakes winners, with Champions Special Phoebe and Heartswideopen and Dashingfordestiny, Furyofthewind and Solid Demand. In all, Dashing Phoebe’s foals earned $2,371,102.
