The winning connections for Eagle Jazz include owner Juan Medina, trainer Judd Kearl & jockey Rodrigo Vallejo
won his May 27 Ruidoso Futurity trial and dead-heated in the final despite stumbling at the start. In his Rainbow trial, he not only qualified the fastest, he won by an astounding 3 1/4-lengths.
Now it is on to the All American and a possible Triple Crown. If the gelding wins the Triple Crown, he will be awarded with a $4 million bonus.
Larry Payne piloted Uptown Dynasty (Mr Jess Perry-Ms Southern Dynasty) to a second place finish for trainer Wesley Giles and owner Melvin Neugebauer. The gelding was the fastest qualifier on the second day of trials on July 8 and dead-heated with Eagle Jazz in the Ruidoso Futurity-G1. The gelding was the fast- est qualifier from the second day of trials.
Judd Kearl also trains third-place finisher Starfield (FDD Dynasty-Starsmith) who was ridden by Agustin Silva for owner Paragon Farms LLC. The colt has won two of his three previous starts, including his July 7 trial heat, with one second place finish. Starfield was the third fastest qualifier from day one of the trials.
Completing the field were Fly Baby Fly (One Famous Eagle-Higher Fire), Painted Wine Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Mr Perrys Wine), Wagon Chick V (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Me Chickie), Lena Cartel (Carters Cartel-Miss Lena Perry), Hotstepper (One Famous Eagle-Pandorum), and Perrys Dynasty (FDD Dynasty-Perry Story). Corona For Tres was scratched.
