                                 Handicap-G3. He was the 1958 Canadian Horse of the Year. Icecapade was sired by Nearctic, who is sired by Nearco and out of Lady Angela by Hyperion. Nearctic is the
sire of the great Northern Dancer. The dam of Icecapade was Shenanigans by Native Dancer by Polynesian. This makes Icecapade a half-brother to the legendary Ruffian as they were both out of Shenanigans. The mating of Nearctic and Shenanigans makes Icecapade a 3/4-brother to Northern Dancer.
Icecapade is the sire of 69 stakes winners and his foals have earned over $30 million, including Canadian Triple Crown winner and Canadian Horse of the Year Izvestia. He is also the sire of Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Wild Again.
The dam of Clever Trick was Kankakee Miss, a stakes placed runner with a second
in the Ashland Stakes. She earned $34,475 and is the dam of two more stakes winners: Clever Shot, winner of the Rockaway Stakes, and Loveshine, winner of the Springfield Handicap. Kankakee Miss was sired by stakes winner Better Bee by Triplicate, and her dam was Golden Beach by Djeddah by Djebel. The dam of Golden Beach was Wise Amy by Wise Counsellor.
The dam of Phone Trick was Over The Phone, who was unplaced in two starts.
She was the dam of 10 foals with one stakes winner in Phone Trick and one stakes placed in Red Chute. Red Chute was third in the Mimosa Stakes and the Sunshine Miss Stakes. Over The Phone was sired by Finnegan by Royal Charger, a 3/4-brother to Misrule, the sire of Bold Ruler. The dam of Finnegan was Last Wave by Bull Lea by Bull Dog. Bull Dog was the sire of Spotted Bull, an important sire in the racing American Quarter Horse. Spotted Bull is found twice in the pedigree of the dam of Special Effort.
The dam of Over The Phone was the race winning mare Prattle, the dam of 10 foals with four winners: Bushafire, Prattle Away, Then She Said, and Sesha. The sire of Prattle was Mr. Busher, who won two stakes at the age of two. Mr. Busher won the Arlington Futurity and the National Stallion Stakes. His race career was stopped by a severe cut. He was sired by the Triple Crown Winner War Admiral and out of the mare Baby League
by Bubbling Over. Baby League is out of the great matriarch of the Thoroughbred, La Troienne. The dam of Prattle was Tsunami, an unraced mare by Clentifico and out of Ocean Brief.
The dam of Favorite Trick was Evil Elaine, who was bred by R. C. Burnett in Florida. She was a stakes winner in the Coronado Stakes at
     Del Mar, and earned $119,729. She was the dam of 11 foals with 10 winners, two stakes winners and three stakes placed runners. The first stakes winner was Cold N Calculating and her second was Favorite Trick.
The sire of Evil Elaine was Medieval Man. This stallion was a 3-time stakes winner of the Youthful Stakes (5.5 furlongs); Select Handicap (6 furlongs) and the Philmont Handicap (6 furlongs). He was also second in the Bay Shore Stakes-G3 (6 furlongs) and the Hutcheson Stakes (7 furlongs). Medieval Man is the sire of such winners as Medieval Moon ($231,370), Minnieoso ($213,751), Medieval Secret ($123,337), and Maeve O ($122,330).
The sire of Medieval Man is the great Australian source of speed Noholme II, who was sired by Star Kingdom, a son of Stardust by Hyperion. The dam of Noholme II was Oceana by Colombo by Manna. Noholme
II was bred in Australia and raced to the unofficial Horse of the Year title for that country at three. He won such races as the Epsom Handicap, W. S Cox Plate, and C.
B. Fisher Plate to secure his title. He was imported to America by Gene Goff, where he was raced but could not win a stakes race. He would place in races such as the Orange Bowl Handicap, Chicago Handicap, and Stars And Stripes Handicap.
Noholme II would retire to stand at Verna Lea Farm in Arkansas, and after a successful first and second crop, he was moved to Florida. He would first stand at Robin’s Nest Farm and then Lasater Farm. The first crop had 11 winners from 13 foals, and his second crop had 40 foals with 24 winners. His second crop would make him the leading Juvenile sire for the year. The second crop produced six stakes winners, including the Champion Handicap horse No Double, and the Canadian Champion Filly Hometown News. He would later sire the 1973 Champion sprinter Shecky Greene.
The Quarter Horse influence of Noholme II comes through such million dollar sires Pass ‘Em Up and The Signature. Pass ‘Em Up is the sire of horses that have won $8,197,097 with the leading money winner being Pass Over. The Signature is the sire of horses that have won $11,232,610 with the leading money winner being Heza Fast Man.
The dam of Medieval Man is Peaceful
Sky an unraced mare. She was the dam of
one other stakes winner in Peaceful Union. Peaceful Sky is sired by Tim Tam by Tom Fool. Tim Tam is out of Two Lea by Bull Lea by Bull Dog. The dam of Peaceful Sky is Curly Sky, a race winner sired by Honeywell and she was out of Fragrant View by Panorama.
