Fearless Freda
Dasha Freda is the 2015 Speedhorse Broodmare of the Year. She earned this honor largely through the efforts of
her sons: Heza Dasha Fire, the reigning AQHA Racing World Champion; and Ima Fearless Hero, the reigning AQHA Racing Champion Two-Year-Old Gelding.
This great mare is owned by S-Quarter K, LLC, which is the husband and wife team of Kathy and Don Meneely and their son Shawn. Kathy and Don bought Dasha Freda in 2003 and formed S-Quarter K, LLC with Shawn. She was raced in 2004 and 2005, earning her black type with a win in the 2005 California Derby Challenge-G3 and a second in the La Primera Del
Ano Derby-G2. She was also a multiple finalist in four more stakes, including a fourth in the AQHA Derby Challenge Championship-G1. She earned $111,741 in her racing career.
Dasha Freda was bred by the late Robert A. Gentry. Robert and his late brother Bruce became racehorse breeders and owners under the name Gentry Brothers, while Robert bred runners in his own name. When we look
at the money won by the Gentry Brothers, we find that they have bred the earners
of $5,641,537. Then, we see that Robert Gentry is the breeder of money earners that have won $4,587,111.
2015 Speedhorse Broodmare of the Year Dasha Freda
earned this title largely through the efforts of her sons: reigning World Champion Heza Dasha Fire, and reigning Champion Two-Year-Old Gelding Ima Fearless Hero.
