by Henriques Rodrigo Costa, Stellar Shay has produced 100% money earners/ROM earners from four starters. Double O Seven, who was a finalist in the 2014 Sunland Park Winter Futurity-G2, is the top money earner of the brood.
First Prize Diamonds (Carters Cartel-First Prize Diamond), the pre-race betting favorite, secured runner-up honors for owner Gary Hartstack and trainer Gerry McLean. James Flores did the riding. First Prize Diamonds won her Speedhorse Derby trial heat by 3/4-length for the fourth fastest qualifying position in the finals.
The top qualifier, Bloomer Ride (PYC Paint Your Wagon-JA Fantasy), hit the board in third for owner Francisco Vega and trainer Manuel Almanza. Roberto Meraz, Jr. was aboard.
The remaining order of finish was Diamond For Dan (Ivory James-First Place Diamond), Volcoms Dash (Volcom-Lethal Cash), Surviving Legend (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Surviving Success), Seis To Temp (Tempting Dash-Corona Seis), Jes Paint Your Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Jes A Game), SR Rumrunner (Corona Cartel-Doce Rosas) and Ruby Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon- Sha Cha).
