Runaway Winner Dies
Leading sire/broodmare sire Runaway Winner si 104 (Beduino TB-Miss Fast Chic, Fast Jet) was euthanized Sept. 14 due to the effects of old age. The 1985 gray stallion earned $369,410 winning or placing in 10 of 14 career starts, including the Kindergarten Futurity-G1 and El Primero Del Ano Derby-G1. From
19 crops to race, Runaway Winner has sired
the earners of nearly $14 million, including Champions Deceptively and Treacherously. He is also the broodmare sire of World Champions Stolis Winner and Wave Carver, and Champions Ocean Runaway and Runnning Brook Gal.
UQHA Fall Mixed Sale
The Utah Quarter Horse Association Fall Mixed Sale was held Sept. 12 and saw increases across-the-board with 40 horses selling for a total of $233,900, up from $125,300 in 2014. The high-seller at $77,000 was Hip#39, CC Brooks Big Boy, a yearling colt consigned by A&C Racing & Roping and purchased by Oilfield Pros Partners.
